Christmas and Easter Revision

Booking Terms

Christmas 2026–27 and Easter 2027

We look forward to supporting your child through the revision period. Before booking, please take a few minutes to read the information below. It explains how we arrange sessions, when payment is due and what happens if plans change.

The Christmas or Easter section applies to the course you choose. The remaining conditions apply to both courses.

1. Christmas Revision 2026–27

Course dates

Christmas revision sessions are available on selected dates within the following periods:

  • 14–23 December 2026

  • 29–31 December 2026

  • 2–4 January 2027

Sessions take place between 08:15 and 20:15. Standard sessions last 90 minutes, with longer sessions available by agreement.

Availability varies by tutor, subject and location. Your booking includes only the sessions listed in your confirmation.

Please check your child’s school commitments and your family’s plans before selecting sessions, as school holiday dates vary.

Payment deadline

A 25% deposit is required when booking and counts towards your total course fees.

The remaining 75% must be paid by Monday 30 November 2026. This deadline applies to your entire Christmas booking, including any sessions taking place in January.

Bookings made on or after 30 November 2026 require full payment at the time of booking.

2. Easter Revision 2027

Course dates

Easter revision sessions are available on selected dates between Tuesday 30 March and Sunday 18 April 2027.

Sessions take place between 08:15 and 20:15. Standard sessions last 90 minutes, with longer sessions available by agreement.

Availability varies by tutor, subject and location. Your booking includes only the sessions listed in your confirmation.

Please check your child’s school holiday dates, examination timetable and other commitments before choosing sessions.

Payment deadline

A 25% deposit is required when booking and counts towards your total course fees.

The remaining 75% must be paid by Tuesday 16 March 2027. This deadline applies to your entire Easter booking, even if your first session takes place later in the course.

Bookings made on or after 16 March 2027 require full payment at the time of booking.

3. Making and confirming your booking

The person making the booking must be at least 18 and responsible for paying the fees. If the student is under 18, you must be their parent or guardian, or have appropriate authority to arrange their tuition.

Before submitting your booking, please check the student’s details, subjects, qualification levels, examination boards, session dates, times, lengths and locations. Please also check whether you have selected individual or group tuition, the total price and the payment deadline.

Submitting an application or receiving an automatic payment receipt does not, by itself, confirm a place.

Your booking becomes binding once we have received the required payment and sent written confirmation accepting it. An automated message counts as acceptance only if it expressly confirms your place.

We aim to confirm your booking or contact you about any difficulties within two working days. If we cannot accept your booking, we will refund any payment for it in full.

If you notice a mistake, please let us know promptly. We will do our best to help, although changes to confirmed sessions depend on availability and the conditions below.

Your booking covers the confirmed sessions only. It does not renew automatically or reserve future term-time or holiday tuition.

4. Prices and what is included

The price shown before you submit your booking is the total payable for your selected sessions, including applicable taxes and compulsory charges.

Prices are per session. Group prices are per student, per session.

Any additional cost for a longer session or another agreed arrangement will be included in the price shown before you commit to it.

Standard teaching materials used during sessions are included. Examination entry, school fees, transport and separately purchased resources are not included unless we expressly agree otherwise.

Discounts apply on the basis explained in the booking portal. Christmas and Easter bookings are treated separately unless an offer states otherwise.

Once your sessions are confirmed, their price will not increase because our published rates change. Any additional sessions or requested changes will be quoted and agreed separately.

If we notice an obvious pricing error before accepting your booking, we will explain it and give you the choice of proceeding at the correct price or receiving a full refund.

5. Deposits and payment

Your deposit forms part of your course fees. It is not an additional booking charge.

If you cancel, some or all of the deposit may be retained under the cancellation conditions below. It is not automatically lost in every circumstance.

Please make sure payment reaches us by the relevant deadline, using the payment details and reference shown in your confirmation or invoice.

If an invoice is missing or something does not look right, please contact us so we can resolve it. We will confirm any corrected amount or revised deadline in writing.

Instalment arrangements or payment extensions must be agreed with Empirical Tuition in writing. Individual tutors cannot authorise alternative payment arrangements on our behalf.

Late or failed payments

If a payment fails, your place is not secured until payment has been completed and your booking confirmed.

If a balance becomes overdue, we will contact you and give you a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. If payment remains outstanding, we may suspend or cancel unpaid sessions and offer the spaces to other families.

Any cancellation charge will be assessed under section 7. Cancellation for non-payment does not automatically mean that all payments are retained or the entire outstanding balance is payable.

If you dispute an amount, please explain the concern so we can investigate. Any undisputed amount remains payable. This does not affect a legal right to withhold payment where one applies.

6. Your 14-day cancellation right

For bookings made online, by telephone or through another qualifying distance-booking method, you have a legal right to cancel without giving a reason.

The cancellation period ends 14 days after the day your contract is made, subject to any extension required by law.

To cancel, simply send us a clear statement by email, WhatsApp or post using the contact details above. You do not need to use a particular form.

Please send your cancellation before the cancellation period expires.

If you cancel within this period before tuition has begun, we will refund all payments for the cancelled booking, including your deposit.

If tuition starts within those 14 days

If you would like tuition to begin before the cancellation period ends, we will ask you to expressly request this.

If you then cancel within the cancellation period, you will pay only the proportionate agreed price for tuition already provided before you told us you were cancelling, provided we have obtained the required request and given you the required information.

You lose the right to cancel once the whole contracted service has been completed only if you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged this consequence beforehand.

Attending the first session of a multi-session booking does not, by itself, remove your right to cancel the remaining booking during the cancellation period.

The cancellation charges in section 7 do not replace these rights.

7. Cancellations after the cooling-off period

We understand that plans sometimes change. Revision bookings reserve specific teaching time, however, and a cancelled space can be difficult to refill.

After the legal cooling-off period, the following maximum charges apply to each cancelled session:

  • At least 14 days’ notice: up to 25% of the session price.

  • At least 7 days but fewer than 14 days’ notice: up to 50% of the session price.

  • Fewer than 7 days’ notice, or non-attendance: up to 100% of the session price.

Notice is measured backwards from the scheduled start of each session. If you cancel several sessions, we assess each one separately.

How cancellation charges are calculated

These percentages are maximums. We will retain or charge only a reasonable amount reflecting the net loss directly caused by your cancellation.

We will take account of costs saved, reasonable efforts to refill the space and any replacement booking that reduces our loss.

Relevant losses may include teaching or venue costs we remain committed to and lost income after allowing for costs we no longer incur. We will not recover the same loss twice.

Your deposit counts towards any cancellation charge and is not added on top.

If you have paid more than the amount properly due, we will refund the difference. If you have paid less, we may invoice the difference.

We are happy to explain how a cancellation charge has been calculated.

These charges do not apply where you are entitled to cancel because of our breach of contract or another legal right.

How to let us know

Please contact Empirical Tuition directly, identifying the student and the sessions you wish to cancel. Email or WhatsApp gives both of us a useful written record.

Please do not rely solely on telling the tutor.

We will acknowledge your cancellation. If you do not hear back, please follow up, although a cancellation validly communicated to us does not depend on our acknowledgement.

8. Changing or rescheduling sessions

If you need to change a date, time, subject, tutor or location, please give us as much notice as possible.

We will do our best to help, but alternative spaces may be limited. A change is confirmed only once we agree it in writing.

Asking to reschedule does not automatically cancel the original session. If you cannot attend and we cannot agree an alternative, the cancellation conditions in section 7 apply.

If we can transfer your booking without suffering a loss, we will take this into account when considering any charge.

We will explain and agree any price difference before confirming a change. Moving a session cannot be used to avoid a cancellation charge already properly incurred.

Bookings are for named students. Please speak to us before substituting another student so we can check suitability, teaching requirements and safeguarding arrangements.

Unused sessions do not automatically transfer to another course or become term-time credit. Any transfer or credit must be agreed in writing. This does not affect a refund you are legally entitled to receive.

9. Illness, emergencies and missed sessions

Please let us know promptly if your child is unwell or unable to attend.

Illness, family emergencies, transport problems, forgotten appointments and changes to school or examination arrangements do not automatically remove cancellation charges. We will consider the circumstances, our actual loss and any practical alternative available.

If your child has symptoms of a contagious illness that would make attendance unsafe, please contact us rather than bringing them to the session.

Online tuition may sometimes be possible as an alternative, subject to agreement, suitability and availability.

In exceptional circumstances, we may offer a rearrangement, credit or reduced charge at our discretion. Any concession applies to that situation and does not change the general policy.

10. Arrival, lateness and collection

Please help us keep the timetable running smoothly by arriving on time and arranging prompt collection where needed.

If a student arrives late, the session will normally finish at the original time and the booked price remains payable.

If a student is more than 20 minutes late without contact, we may treat the session as missed. We will make reasonable attempts to contact you and follow appropriate safeguarding arrangements.

If a tutor starts late for a reason attributable to us, we will provide the missing teaching time at an agreed time or refund the corresponding amount.

For younger students, please tell us in advance about agreed collection arrangements or permission to travel independently.

Supervision is provided during the booked session. Supervision before, after or between sessions is available only where expressly agreed. If collection is delayed, we will nevertheless take reasonable steps to keep the child safe.

11. Individual and group tuition

Individual sessions are reserved for one student unless we agree otherwise.

Group sessions normally include two to four students studying compatible subjects, qualification levels and examination boards.

Each student must have a confirmed place. Please speak to us before bringing any additional participant.

The agreed date and time apply to everyone in the group. One student’s absence does not automatically postpone the session for the others. The absent student’s booking is assessed under the cancellation conditions.

You are responsible only for your own agreed bookings unless you have expressly agreed to pay for other students.

If group numbers fall, we will discuss any proposed change to the format or future price with the affected families. The remaining students will not automatically be charged a higher rate.

If we cannot provide a confirmed group session on the agreed basis, we will offer a suitable alternative or refund the affected session. You do not have to accept a more expensive individual session.

12. Tutors and teaching arrangements

Your confirmation will set out the agreed subjects, qualification levels, session format and any specifically agreed tutor arrangements.

Sessions are taught by members of the Empirical Tuition team. Tom Gordon will teach a session only where this is expressly confirmed.

If the original tutor becomes unavailable, we may offer a suitably qualified alternative and will explain the proposed change promptly.

If a particular named tutor was expressly agreed as an essential part of your booking, or a replacement materially changes the agreed service, you may decline the change and receive a refund for the affected undelivered sessions.

We remain responsible for providing the service we have agreed, including where a member of our tutor team delivers it.

A substantial change to location, time or delivery format requires your agreement. In-person tuition will not automatically be replaced with online tuition without discussing it with you.

13. Student information and additional needs

The more we know about a student’s needs, the better we can prepare.

Please provide accurate information about their subject, qualification, examination board, tier, current attainment and areas needing support.

Please also tell us about relevant learning, communication or accessibility needs, medical requirements, allergies, emergency contacts and collection arrangements.

If your child needs significant additional support, please discuss this with us before booking so we can consider appropriate reasonable adjustments and establish whether we can provide suitable tuition.

A diagnosis or disability does not, by itself, prevent a student from attending.

If information is inaccurate or incomplete, we will discuss any effect on the tuition and reasonable ways to address it. Additional work or charges require your agreement.

If we cannot provide a suitable service, we will explain why and discuss cancellation or an appropriate alternative, taking account of our legal obligations.

14. Preparing for sessions and academic outcomes

Please send any requested examination-board details, topic priorities or school materials in good time.

Students should bring the equipment reasonably needed for their sessions, such as stationery, a calculator and relevant course materials.

Tutors will adapt teaching to the student’s needs and the time available. A booking does not guarantee coverage of an entire syllabus or every requested topic.

We provide tuition with reasonable care and skill. Progress also depends on attendance, engagement, independent study and the student’s starting point.

We cannot guarantee a particular grade, examination result, school place or university offer. Previous results and suggested session numbers are guides rather than promises about an individual student’s outcome.

Examination entry and the administration of official examinations are not included unless expressly agreed.

We are happy to help students understand and practise their work, but tutors cannot complete assessed work on their behalf or assist with academic misconduct.

15. Behaviour and safeguarding

We want sessions to feel welcoming, focused and comfortable for everyone. Students, parents and tutors are expected to treat one another respectfully.

We may pause or end a session if behaviour creates a safety risk, involves harassment or abuse, or seriously prevents teaching.

Where appropriate, we will explain the concern and give an opportunity to resolve it. Immediate action may be needed where safety is at risk.

If we end future tuition, we will explain the reason and refund payments for undelivered sessions, less only any separately justified and lawful amount due. Ending tuition does not automatically mean that all course fees are forfeited.

Safeguarding concerns may need to be shared with appropriate authorities or professionals. We cannot promise confidentiality where doing so would put someone at risk.

16. Changes or cancellations by Empirical Tuition

If we cannot provide a session, we will let you know as soon as reasonably possible.

We may offer a replacement tutor, another time or another suitable arrangement. You do not have to accept a material change to your booking.

If we cannot agree an acceptable alternative, we will refund the affected undelivered session, including its share of the deposit.

If a change prevents the remaining booking from serving its agreed purpose, we will discuss cancellation and refunds for the affected remaining sessions.

Disruption can occasionally arise because of severe weather, venue closure, power failure, serious illness or another event outside our reasonable control. We will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect on your booking.

We will not automatically retain payment for tuition we cannot provide, and you will not be required to accept credit instead of a refund you are entitled to receive.

These arrangements do not replace any additional remedy available where we are legally responsible for the disruption or failure.

17. Online sessions, where agreed

If we agree to provide a session online, we will confirm the platform and access arrangements.

Please make sure the student has suitable equipment, a working internet connection and an appropriate place to study.

If a problem with our equipment, connection or arrangements prevents teaching, we will provide the lost time or an appropriate refund.

If a problem on the student’s side prevents participation, we will try reasonable practical solutions. Any charge for a session that cannot proceed will be assessed under the cancellation conditions and the circumstances.

18. Materials, recordings and personal information

Materials we supply are for the booked student’s personal educational use. Please do not sell, publish or commercially redistribute them without permission.

Third-party materials remain subject to their owners’ rights.

Audio or video recording requires prior agreement. We will consider accessibility-related recording requests individually.

We will seek separate permission before using a student’s photograph, testimonial or identifiable work for publicity. Accepting these booking terms does not provide that permission.

We use personal information to arrange bookings, provide tuition, communicate with families and meet relevant legal and safeguarding obligations. Further details are available in our Privacy Policy.

Please keep us informed of changes to contact details or emergency information.

19. Refunds and complaints

Refunds will normally be made to the original payment method unless we agree another method. We do not charge a refund administration fee.

Cooling-off refunds will be made without undue delay and within the applicable statutory deadline. Other refunds due under these terms will normally be processed within 14 days of cancellation or agreement of the amount.

If something has not gone as expected, please contact Tom Gordon at contact@empiricaltuition.co.uk or on 07444 458122. Include the student’s name, relevant session dates and a brief explanation so we can look into it.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and provide a substantive response within ten working days. If we need longer, we will explain why and keep you updated.

If tuition has not been provided with reasonable care and skill or as agreed, we will provide the remedy required by law. Depending on the circumstances, this may include repeat performance, a price reduction or a refund.

Please raise concerns promptly so we have the best opportunity to help. Our response targets do not impose a deadline that removes your legal rights.

If we cannot resolve a complaint, we will explain our final position and provide any information about independent dispute resolution that we are required to give.

20. Responsibility and your legal rights

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for loss caused solely by circumstances for which we are not legally responsible. This does not exclude responsibility where our own actions or omissions contributed to the loss.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Your statutory consumer rights continue to apply.

21. Which terms apply

These terms, together with your agreed booking details, form the basis of your course booking.

Any specific variation must be agreed with Empirical Tuition and confirmed in writing. This does not remove the legal effect of statements or promises you are entitled to rely on.

These terms apply specifically to Christmas and Easter revision bookings. If they conflict with our general term-time booking policy, these course terms take priority.

We may update the terms for future bookings. Updates will not retrospectively change an existing booking without agreement.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply where they can fairly operate independently.

The contract is governed by the law of England and Wales. This does not remove mandatory protections or court rights you have under the law of the part of the UK where you live.
